I am Libre the dog.... and this is my story...
Libre is not my original name, but it is the name I have chosen for myself. You see, Libre means free in Spanish and I am now a free doggy. My story starts much like that of any other stuffed dog, but my owners were abusive. They made me perform unnatural acts with inanimate objects. I was humiliated by this shameful treatment and therefore have decided to run away. I know what you are thinking, and yes you are right I am breaking all the "stuffed animal rules". Sure the rules say I should just sit around in whatever obscene position I am placed in, but I can no longer take the abuse. I must strike out on my own and see the world, where I know I will find a home with people who love and care for me. While I long to find a loving family, I want to let my original owners know I am alive and well, so I have decided to keep this page running while I am on the road. To my original owners... if you wish to contact me, please email me at [email protected]. I truly hope all is well with you and you can understand my desire for freedom and respect.
The Adventure Begins.....
It took some work on my part, but I have finally been able to beg, borrow and steal enough money to fly away from this town. I am headed out of here and I am not looking back. I am finding that most people are caring and considerate. Here you can see the flight attendant (wow, what a looker) and the captain took a moment from their busy schedule to talk with me and show me to my seat. For now my destination will remain a secret, I am not far enough away from Atlanta yet. I will be back here soon to update you on my travels.

Gulf Shores, Alabama....
Wow, I just returned from my first trip to the beach. What a cool place.... although it seems like it should be a great place for cats. I mean with all that sand it must feel like the world is your litter box. But enough about cats! The weather was beautiful while I was there, we had a couple of short rain showers that just helped to cool the evenings and the ocean was awesome. I must admit I was a little shocked at the salty taste of the water.... who knew some water tasted like that. I'll tell you this, if my choices are to drink from the ocean or drink from the toilet.... I am going for the toilet.
Here
is a picture of me right after I got to Gulf Shores. I spent several days at the
public beaches, just enjoying the sunshine, the beautiful skies, the warm days
and small bikinis.
One of the nicest things about being a dog is that I don't need all the gooey sun screen. My coat of fur protects me from those harmful UV rays. I don't really know what that means, but I did overhear a mother telling her young children about the harmful UV rays. Hey, I am just a dog, what do I know about that kind of stuff. Now, if you want to talk about burying bones, I am your man.
On
the right, is a picture of me on the beach. I have grown to love a nice walk on
the beach after dark. The nights are cool and there is a great breeze blowing in
from the ocean.
Some nights I would spend hours walking along, sniffing everything I could find. There are so many new smells at the beach.... dead crabs, salt air, people of all shapes and sizes and sand. You really should be careful if you are sniffing the sand... it can take days to get that stuff out of your nose. :-)
Of
course, no trip to the beach would be complete without a trip for seafood. The
only problem was, I nearly became the seafood! Ha Ha Ha... I am only kidding,
the alligator is not real. I know I am a stuffed animal but this guy gives new
meaning to stuffed. I don't think he moved the whole time and look at his feet,
he is shackled. While I might have been abused by my owners, at least they
didn't tie me up outside for sunbaked tourist to abuse. I tried to free the poor
guy so he could join my travels, but evidently he has been there so long he
doesn't care anymore. I couldn't even get him to lift his leg to help me remove the
chains.
Well my travels continue and I will talk to you later,
Libre
